About the role
An opportunity exists for an experienced counsellor to join our Palliative Care team, facilitating psychosocial support, spiritual care and bereavement support to patients and families of community palliative care services in admitted and non-admitted care settings. The role will provide professional counselling through a variety of modalities, including individual, group and family scenarios.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in a discipline such as Grief and Bereavement Counselling, Social Work, Pastoral Care, Psychology or related field (preferred)
- Demonstrated clinical experience in palliative care, bereavement care and support or a similar field
- Clinical experience of providing 1:1 counselling sessions and group sessions utilising a broad range of counselling techniques
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated competence in managing a clinical caseload of counselling clients
- Ability to work skillfully, efficiently and creatively, using evidence-based practice in a team environment
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and computer skills (including electronic client record documentation)
- An understanding of community based palliative care service provision

The successful applicant will hold, or be able to obtain, a current National Criminal Police Check. A current Working with Children Check Clearance and NDIS Worker Screening Check is required for this role. All successful applicants are to comply with WDHS immunisation and vaccination requirements.
