Registered Nurse - Graduate Program 2025

Fixed term contract – 12 months, 64 to 80 hours per fortnight

 

Program commencement: Tuesday 28th January 2025

 

Western District Health Service has an exciting opportunity for a newly graduated registered nurse to participate in the 2025 Graduate Nurse Program.

The main goal of this program is to provide facilitated support within the clinical setting, helping to transform existing knowledge into quality outcomes while further developing skills and knowledge for independent learning and practice.

The 12 month program will provide an excellent foundation for future career advancement by providing participants with the opportunity to develop clinical skills with the assistance of trained preceptors, Practice Development Nurses, and the Graduate Nurse Program Coordinator. 

The Graduate Nurse program provides positions for two 6 month rotations in our Acute Medical and Surgical wards.   The specialty rotations comprise of the Emergency Department, Theatre and our Aged Care Facilities.

Applications are to include cover letter, current resume, including three clinical referees and three recent clinical placement reports. Please also include a copy of your academic record. 

 

N.B. Please refer to the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) for nursing registration requirements and take note of the English Language requirements. The NMBA requires all applicants for initial registration to demonstrate English Language skills to be suitable for registration. NMBA may require you to sit and achieve a minimum score in an accepted English Language test. A position in the Graduate Nurse program will not be held for an applicant if registration requirements are not met.

The successful applicant will hold, or be able to obtain, a current National Criminal Police Check. Dependant on your position you may be required to obtain a Working with Children Check Clearance, Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme check and / or NDIS Worker Screening Check. All successful applicants are to comply with WDHS immunisation and vaccination requirements, including COVID and Booster
